China - 08 November 2017

Indonesia - 08 November 2017

The International Air Services Commission (the Commission) has received an application [PDF: 617 KB]   from Qantas seeking to renew Determination [2013] IASC 115, as amended, for a further period of five years form 25 October 2018. The Determination allocates:

  • 14468 seats of capacity to operate third and fourth freedom rights; and
  • for beyond traffic rights,  2148 weekly seats with 12 frequencies per week, seven of which may serve points beyond Indonesia from Denpasar.

Indonesia - 31 October 2017

The International Air Services Commission (the Commission) has received an application [PDF: 347 KB]   from Virgin Australia seeking to renew the following:

  • Determination [2013] IASC 116, as amended by [2015] IASC 208, which allocates 1,980 seats of capacity in each direction on the Indonesia route ; and
  • Determination [2013] IASC 117, which allocates 1,260 seats of capacity in each direction on the Indonesia route.

Virgin Australia is seeking the renewal of the capacity allocations for a further period of five years and to retain all existing conditions. Virgin Australia is also seeking to include an additional condition permitting the use of the capacity for code share services with Delta Air Lines.

The International Air Services Commission (the Commission) has received an application  [PDF: 62 KB]   from Qantas Airways Limited seeking an allocation of 1,300 seats per week on the Indonesia route, to be used by Jetstar, Qantas' wholly-owned subsidiary from 1 February 2018. Jetstar is planning to operate services jointly with Emirates.

Italy - 06 September 2017

On 6 September 2017, the Commission issued various resolutions to recognise the averaging-out methodology (in the Australia-Italy air services arrangement) by inserting a condition to the existing determinations on the Italy route, which states that ‘the capacity allocation is averaged over 12 months in accordance with the Australia-Italy air services arrangement’.

Japan - 14 August 2017

The International Air Services Commission (the Commission) has received an application [PDF: 54 KB]   from Qantas Airways Limited seeking to vary Determination [2012] IASC 102 on the Japan route to permit the utilisation of capacity by Jetstar Airways Pty Limited for code share services with Japan Airlines. The variation sought is requested for the duration of the determination.

In light of the recent changes to the air services arrangements between Australia and Nauru which include increasing the freight capacity to ‘unlimited frequencies’, PAE is seeking for an allocation of unlimited freight capacity valid for 10 years.

The determination permits the use of the capacity for the provision of code share services between Virgin Australia and Singapore Airlines and Etihad Airways.

Indonesia - 10 April 2017

On 7 April 2017, Virgin Australia requested a variation of Determination [2015] IASC 110 to reduce the allocation from 2,800 seats per week to 280 seats per week on the Indonesia route.

On 10 April 2017, the Commission's delegate issued Decision [2017] IASC 205  [PDF: 377 KB]   , varying Determination [2015] IASC 110 to reduce the capacity allocated by 2,520 weekly seats, leaving 280 seats per week in each direction allocated on the said Determination on the Indonesia route.

Singapore - 03 April 2017

The International Air Services Commission (the Commission) has received an application  [PDF: 347 KB]   from Qantas seeking to renew Determination [2013] IASC 120 (as amended by [2014] IASC 231), which allocates 300 seats per week of capacity for own stopover traffic between Singapore and Colombo. Additionally, Qantas seeks to retain certain conditions including the use of the capacity by a Qantas’ wholly-owned subsidiary and for code sharing with Emirates and SriLankan Airlines.
