New Zealand - 20 February 2025
The International Air Services Commission (the Commission) has received an application from Virgin Australia seeking to vary Determination [2017] IASC 113, on the New Zealand route, to permit Air India to code share on Virgin Australia operated services.
Invitation for Submissions
In accordance with section 22 of the International Air Services Commission Act 1992, the Commission invites submissions about the variation application.
Hong Kong - 17 February 2025
The International Air Services Commission (the Commission) has received an application from Qantas requesting to renew Determination [2019] IASC 129 which allocates to Qantas 14 frequencies per week in each direction on the Hong Kong route, subject to certain conditions.
Invitation for other applications
In accordance with section 12 of the International Air Services Commission Act 1992, the Commission invites other applications for capacity on the route.
The closing date for making an application is 3 March 2025. If you are intending to make an application, please inform the Director of the Commission, by email (at contact@iasc.gov.au), as soon as possible.
Qatar - 3 December 2024
The International Air Services Commission (the Commission) has received an application from Virgin Australia requesting an allocation of 28 frequencies per week in each direction, to operate passenger services on the Qatar route. From June 2025, Virgin Australia plans to operate daily services between Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Doha; and daily services between Melbourne and Doha from December 2025. The proposed services will be operated using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft configured with between 354 and 412 seats.
Canada and Chile - 27 November 2024
The International Air Services Commission (the Commission) has received an application from Qantas seeking to vary Determination [2023] IASC 133, on the Canada route, to change the capacity allocated from 708 seats to three services per week.
Qantas is also seeking to vary its capacity allocations on the Chile route, to change the capacity allocated from 1,847 seats to seven services per week.
The Commission notes this request is in response to the recent updates to Australia's bilateral air services agreements with both Canada and Chile.

Singapore and Cook Islands - 21 November 2024
The International Air Services Commission (the Commission) has received an application from Qantas seeking to renew Determination [2019] IASC 121 which allocates 300 seats per week of capacity in each direction on the Singapore route to be used to exercise own stop-over rights between Singapore and Colombo, subject to certain conditions, for a period of five (5) years. Qantas seeks to retain all existing conditions.
Bangladesh and Thailand - 21 November 2024
The International Air Services Commission (the Commission) has received an application from Virgin Australia seeking to renew Determination [2019] IASC 122 which allocates five (5) frequencies per week in each direction on the Bangladesh route, subject to certain conditions, for a period of five (5) years. Virgin Australia seeks to retain all existing conditions.
