The International Air Services Commission (the Commission) has received an application from Virgin Australia seeking to renew Determination [2019] IASC 122 which allocates five (5) frequencies per week in each direction on the Bangladesh route, subject to certain conditions, for a period of five (5) years. Virgin Australia seeks to retain all existing conditions.
Virgin Australia also seeks to renew Determination [2019] IASC 125 which allocates seven (7) third-party code share frequencies per week in each direction on the Thailand route, subject to certain conditions, for a period of five (5) years. Virgin Australia seeks to remove the provision for code share services with Silk Air and retain all other existing conditions.
Invitation for other applications
In accordance with section 12 of the International Air Services Commission Act 1992, the Commission invites other applications for capacity on these routes.
The closing date for making an application is 5 December 2024. If you are intending to make an application, please inform the Director of the Commission, by email (at contact@iasc.gov.au), as soon as possible.
Update: 07-January-2025
On 23 December 2024, the Commission issued Determination [2024] IASC 132, allocating to Virgin Australia five frequencies per week in each direction on the Bangladesh route. Virgin Australia is permitted to utilise the capacity to provide code share services with Singapore Airlines, subject to certain conditions. The Determination is valid for five years from 25 October 2025.
On 23 December 2024, the Commission also issued Determination [2024] IASC 133, allocating to Virgin Australia seven third party code share frequencies of passenger capacity per week in each direction on the Thailand route, subject to certain conditions. Virgin Australia is permitted to utilise the capacity for the provision of code share services with Singapore Airlines. The determination is valid for five years from 25 October 2025.
