The International Air Services Commission (the Commission) has received an application
from Qantas requesting an additional allocation of 450 seats of passenger capacity per week on the Samoa route. Qantas plans to operate up to an additional three services per week between Brisbane and Apia, using Boeing 737 aircraft configured with 174 seats.
Invitation for other applications
In accordance with Section 12 of the International Air Services Commission Act 1992, the Commission invites other applications for capacity on the route.
The closing date for making an application is 8 February 2024. If you are intending to make an application, please inform the Director of the Commission, by email (at iasc@infrastructure.gov.au) as soon as possible.
Update: 23-February-2024
On 21 February 2024, the Commission issued Determination [2024] IASC 104, allocating to Qantas an additional 450 seats of capacity per week to operate passenger services on the Samoa route. The determination is valid for five years from 21 February 2024.
