The International Air Services Commission has received an application
from Qantas seeking to renew Determination [2018] IASC 121, which allocates 1,092 seats per week on the Canada route. In its application Qantas has sought the following:
- Qantas seeks renewal of the Determination for a period of five years;
- Qantas requests that the allocation of capacity be varied to reduce the capacity allocation from 1,092 seats to 708 seats per week; and
- Qantas requests all existing conditions be retained, with the exception of the condition that permits the capacity to be used by Jetstar Airways Pty Limited.
Invitation for other applications
In accordance with section 12 of the International Air Services Commission Act 1992, the Commission invites other applications for capacity on the route.
The closing date for making an application is 3 November 2023. If you are intending to make an application, please inform the Director of the Commission, by email (at iasc@infrastructure.gov.au), as soon as possible.
Update: 06-December-2023
On 6 December 2023, the Commission issued Determination [2023] IASC 133, renewing Determination [2018] IASC 121, allocating to Qantas 708 seats per week on the Canada route, and permission for Qantas to offer code share services with several airlines, subject to certain conditions.
