The International Air Services Commission (the Commission) has received an application
from Virgin Australia requesting to renew the following:
- Determination [2017] IASC 117 allocating to Virgin Australia 720 seats per week on the Vanuatu route and permitting the use of the capacity for code share services with Singapore Airlines and Etihad Airways.
- Determination [2017] IASC 121 allocating to Virgin Australia 180 seats per week on the Vanuatu route and permitting the use of the capacity for code share services with Singapore Airlines and Etihad Airways.
Virgin Australia is requesting the renewal of the capacity allocations for a further period of five years and to retain all existing conditions. Virgin Australia is also requesting to vary Determination [2017] IASC 117 and Determination [2017] IASC 121, and any subsequent renewals made under Determination [2017] IASC 117 and Determination [2017] IASC 121, to permit the use of capacity for code share services with Qatar Airways and United Airlines.
Invitation for other applications
In accordance with section 12 of the International Air Services Commission Act 1992, the Commission invites other applications for capacity on the route. In relation to the variation of conditions, the Commission invites submissions about the transfer application in accordance with section 22 of the Act.
The closing date for making an application and/or submission is 6 September 2022. If you are intending to make an application or submission, please inform the Director of the Commission, by email (at iasc@infrastructure.gov.au), of your intention to make an application or submission as soon as possible.

Virgin Australia has temporarily withdrawn its request to renew Determinations [2017] IASC 117 and [2017] IASC 121, as well as its request to vary Determinations [2017] IASC 117 and [2017] IASC 121 to permit the use of capacity for code share services with Qatar Airways and United Airlines.
