The International Air Services Commission (the Commission) has received an application from Qantas seeking to renew Determination [2011] IASC 132 [PDF: 184 KB] which allocates 1,000 seats per week of capacity on the Papua New Guinea route. The application for renewal is made on the following basis:
- the capacity may be utilized by Qantas or another Australian carrier which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Qantas (such as Jetstar); and
- the capacity may be used by Qantas to provide joint services with any wholly-owned subsidiary and by any wholly-owned subsidiary of the Qantas Group to provide joint services with Qantas.
In accordance with section 12 of the International Air Services Commission Act 1992, the Commission invites other applications on the Qantas application.
The closing date for making an application is 10 August 2016, Wednesday.
If you are intending to make an application, please inform, by email (at iasc@infrastructure.gov.au), the Executive Director of the Commission of your intention to make an application as soon as practicable.
Update: 12-August-2016
On 12 August 2016, the Commission's delegate issued Renewal Determination [2016] IASC 110 [PDF: 1073 KB] allocating 1,000 seats per week in each direction in favour of Qantas on the Papua New Guinea route. The determination is valid for five years from 1 July 2017.
