The Commission has received an application from Qantas Airways Limited (ACN 009 661 901) (Qantas) seeking an allocation of 888 seats of capacity per week on the Papua New Guinea route [PDF: 61 KB] . The airline plans to introduce 12 Bombardier Dash8-Q400 services per week between Cairns and Port Moresby from July 2010. Other applications for some or all of the capacity sought by Qantas are invited.
The closing date for notice of intention to make an application is COB 19 March 2010, with applications due by COB 26 March 2010, unless additional time is sought and agreed to by the Commission. If no notice of intention to apply is received by COB 19 March 2010, the Commission may proceed to decide the matters under consideration as soon as practicable after that date.

On 24 March 2010, the Commission issued Determination [2010] IASC 101 [PDF: 98 KB] which allocates 888 seats of capacity in each direction on the route to Qantas.
