The Commission has received an application [PDF: 85 KB] from Pionair Australia for an allocation of 18 tonnes of freight capacity on the Papua New Guinea route. On Tuesday 15 June 2010, Pionair revised the amount of capacity sought, and has reduced its application to 12 tonnes of capacity per week, via email correspondence. Other applications for the capacity sought by Pionair are invited.
The closing date for notice of intention to make an application is COB 22 June 2010, with applications due by COB 29 June 2010. If no notice of intention is received by COB 22 June 2010, the Commission may proceed to decide the matters under consideration as soon as practicable after that date.

On 22 September 2010 the Commission received a letter from the Department of Infrastructure and Transport regarding whether Pionair was resonably capable of obtaining approvals necessary to operate services. The letter may be found here. [PDF: 31 KB]
Update: 29-September-2010
The Commission issued Interim Determination [2010] IASC 110 [PDF: 93 KB] allocating Pionair twelve tonnes of freight capacity per week in each direction. The determination is for three years.
