Pacific Wings Pty Ltd (Pacific Wings) has applied to the Commission for an allocation of unlimited capacity on the New Zealand route and 0.25 units of capacity per week in each direction on the New Caledonia route. The closing date for notice of intention to make an application is 16 June 2009, with applications due by 23 June 2009 unless additional time is sought and agreed to by the Commission.

As part of the usual procedure the IASC sent a letter to the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government to request advice as to whether Pacific Wings is reasonably capable of obtaining designation, licensing and the operational approvals necessary to operate services on the route. On 27 July 2009, the Commission issued Determination [2009] IASC 111 [PDF: 105 KB] allocating unlimited passenger capacity on the New Zealand route and [2009] IASC 112 [PDF: 105 KB] allocating 0.25 units of capacity per week in each direction on the New Caledonia route.
